DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT
The Laboratory for Extreme Mechanics & Additive Manufacturing (LEMAM), at the University of Toronto, under Professor Yu Zou, focuses on studying materials under extreme conditions and advancements in the field of additive manufacturing and metal working. The lab is acquiring a multifunctional thermal-mechanical physical simulation system (“The System”) with the capability to test materials under varying loading scenarios at extremely high heating rates and operating at temperatures of above 1500 C. The System is estimated to be specialized for conducting tension, compression, thermal-mechanical fatigue, torsion, melting and solidification, weld simulations, creep, impact, and a variety of fracture mechanics tests under varying atmospheres for different materials.
The System is expected to support a broad range of data collection of a variety of materials required to study and analyze the real-time mechanical behavior of materials and optimize their manufacturing processes. Designed for both novice and expert users, it should enhance LEMAM’s research capacity and contribute to the development of advanced materials and high-impact publications.
The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated.
