The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is seeking a service provider that can facilitate digital examinations across the Province of Ontario as assigned for our Fuels, Operating Engineers, Elevating Devices, Amusement Devices and Ski Lift mechanic certifications. Written certifying examinations play a pivotal role in the certification process and protecting the safety of Ontarians, providing a demonstration of an exam candidate’s cumulative knowledge of the full scope of the trade. TSSA in partnership with accredited training providers conducts approximately 17,000 paper-based written examinations annually across Ontario. Currently, written certifying examinations are paper-based and consist of both multiple-choice and essay-style questions. Multiple choice exams range from 1.5 – 3.5 hours in duration. Candidates record answers on bubble sheets and these sheets are marked centrally by TSSA staff. Essay examinations are written in booklets and marked by a third party. Written certifying examinations are currently invigilated in approximately 25 locations across the province, with varying levels of scheduling availability within typical operating hours of Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Examinations are also administered by accredited training providers at their locations. TSSA is seeking an experienced assessment service provider to administer certifying examinations on behalf of TSSA, leveraging technology to meet or exceed the current delivery capacity, accessibility, security and geographic reach while improving customer experience.
