The Columbia Zone engineering program maintains, builds, and deactivates a variety of forest service road (FSR) to facilitate BCTS Okanagan-Columbia works, projects, and timber sales. The proposed contract requires the FSR maintenance of forest roads throughout the Golden operating areas of Columbia Zone to meet annual business targets, improve timber sale access, and meet BCTS and industry FSR goals and standards. Works will be located throughout the Golden Operating Areas of BCTS - Okanagan-Columbia. Works required will include, but not be limited to, culvert clearing, culvert replacement, culvert removal, ditching, debris removal, slope stabilization, running surface reestablishment, grading, and simple deactivation. Works will be assigned at the start of field season on an “as needed” basis through a priority driven process throughout the field season.

A Bid Security is required for this contract, supplied at the time of tender, and to the standards outlined in Section 6.0 of the Conditions of Tender.

The lowest priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.
Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations.
